The Palo Alto girls' soccer team got plenty of offense in a 6-1 victory over Santa Clara in the Palo Alto Winter Classic on Friday. The Vikings started the game aggressively taking multiple shots on goal, but it took a while before finding the back of the net. Santa Clara took a 1-0 lead 20 minutes into the first half, but Vikings countered seven minutes later on a 20-yard shot by senior defender Emy Kelty. Freshmann Katie Foug made it 2-1 with 2 1/2 minutes before intermission. Paly resumed control in the second half and scored four more goals -- two by junior Jordan Smith, one by sophomore midfielder Sunny Lyu and the final goal was scored by sophomore Megan Tall. Paly outshot Santa Clara, 28-5.
