The Palo Alto girls' volleyball team made program history by winning a second straight Central Coast Section Division I title on Saturday with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-14 sweep of Menlo-Atherton at Independence High in San Jose. The top-seeded Vikings (33-3) won for the 18th straight time while handing the No. 2-seeded Bears (29-6) their third straight setback in the CCS finals. Paly also beat M-A in three sets last year. The Vikings should receive either a No. 1 or 2 seed for NorCals on Sunday and host a first-round match on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Bears likely will have to travel for the third straight year.
Palo Alto coach Dave Winn, who earned his 300th career victory in the semifinals, takes 301 into NorCals along with a 110-9 mark since the start of the 2009 season.
