Palo Alto opened defense of its SCVAL De Anza Division football title with a 29-13 victory over visiting Homestead in a showdown between two undefeated teams on Friday night. The Vikings (1-0, 3-1) got a pair of touchdowns from senior running backs B.J. Boyd and Dre Hill in defeating the Mustangs. Boyd scored both of his touchdowns in the first half to help the Vikings take a 15-13 lead, his first coming on an 83-yard kickoff return. He also hauled in a 26-yard TD reception from quarterback Keller Chryst. Hill provided the second-half offense with TD runs of nine and 16 yards.
