The Palo Alto girls' volleyball team improved to 2-0 in SCVAL De Anza Division action with a sweep of host Mountain View, 25-13, 25-14, 25-14, on Thursday night. Melanie Wade (16 kills) and fellow senior Maddie Kuppe (13 kills) were a huge reason behind the sweep, along with a standout defense that limited Stanford-bound, Brittany Howard to just eight kills. Paly (15-2) next will host St. Francis on Monday night (6:45) in a battle between two defending state champions. The Vikings captured Division I last season while the Lancers took the D-2 title.
