Sherri Osaka, a landscape architect and Bay-Friendly qualified designer, will teach a class on "Lawn Alternatives" from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Common Ground, 559 College Ave., Palo Alto. Emphasis will be on drought-tolerant plants, sheet mulching, graywater and rainwater irrigation and pervious paving. Cost is $31.
