The wedding was postponed due to the events of Pearl Harbor, but they married two years later in Normal, Ill. They went on to live in Palo Alto for over 50 years, Herbert later becoming the dean of admissions at the College of San Mateo. Together they have traveled the country and world extensively. They live today near their children in Eskaton Village in Carmichael, Calif., and enjoy using their iPad and playing cards. Their family includes two children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
