ENTERTAINING AT NEW YEAR'S? ... Termina Wong will teach a hands-on cooking class, called "New Year's Cocktail Party," at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, and a date-night-themed "Chef's Table" at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29. LEARN IKEBANA ... Kika Shibata will teach a class on "Ikebana," the art of Japanese flower arrangements, on Tuesdays, Jan. 10 to March 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center, 700 Alma St., Menlo Park. Beginner, intermediate and advanced students may enroll; all should bring a shallow container, scissors and a frog (needlepoint holder). REALTOR OF THE YEAR ... Nancy MacLeod, a broker with Homes2Buy.com, was named Palo Alto District Realtor of the Year by the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors. MacLeod serves as SILVAR's 2011 Palo Alto District chair and is a SILVAR board director. Her husband, Guillaume Peters, owner of Sunviva Construction, was named the district's Affiliate of the Year. The Spirit of SILVAR award went to Judy Ellis, a Realtor with Alain Pinel Realtors, Palo Alto, for championing public-policy positions relating to real estate. Sara Spang, a Realtor with Keller Williams, Menlo Park, was named Committee Chair of the Year; and Desiree Docktor, a Realtor with Alain Pinel Realtors, Palo Alto, was given the district's Community Outreach award.
