'Scott Meadow' named for Greer Park activists

Midtown residents Charles and Jean Scott to be honored at Saturday dedication

by Sue Dremann

I saw the chain link fence from around the park was finally down yesterday! it has been a long time but the park will be re-opened :)
Great story, that park is a huge asset to the neighborhood.

This is an excellent article. The Scotts have been true heroes, unselfishly working for a better neighborhood. I agree that it's sad that Jean, a lovely person, did not get to attend the celebration Saturday.

I have no doubt Jean will be there - sans body, of course.

I love that the park now takes up most of that very large area, and that one of the two buildings I notice when I drive by is a school.

I can't tell what the second one is, but if it's a business, I'd love to see it move elsewhere and perhaps that remaining building could include rooms for activities and other "park like" activities or be torn down for more park fun.

I believe the dedication for the new portion of Greer Park is this weekend (Saturday?). I don't know what time.

What is the blue light shining night and day in the middle of the new part of the park? Very annoying unless it has a good reason to be there. I find it very distracting when I am driving by - particularly when it is dark.

I believe the re-opening ceremony is at 1:00 pm. The blue light is most likely a 911 call box. Come down to Greer Park and celebrate with us.
