About Dawn Soriano

This photo, according to Dawn Soriano, was completely unplanned - as was her pursuit of photography. Ten years after earning her bachelor's degree, Soriano decided to take photography more seriously and was motivated by a coworker to enter the Weekly's contest.

The winning photo in the Peninsula Images category was taken during a random drive down to Half Moon Bay. Soriano recalled seeing the pumpkins while passing one house and stopping her car. The color of the beautifully arranged pumpkins is accentuated by the weathered staircase. Luckily, her camera was in the passenger's seat and the pumpkins were already set up.
