Smith recently toured Jaisalmer, a city in northwestern India,
where he took countless photographs.
"I was walking down the street and I saw this gentleman
sitting there. What attracted me was not only the position he
was in, but also the lighting on his face, which I thought was
unique. So I shot the picture.
"I think the title 'Meditation' captures the spiritual
nature of this particular gentleman at the time that I shot the
photograph," he said.
For this photo, he used a very fast shutter speed and shot on
Fuji ProVia 400 film.
The Menlo Park resident mentioned that he's retired but is still
taking "a lot of photographs" and plans to continue
doing so.
