I
was really lucky with it, he said.
Fournier was passing the afternoon, camera in hand, while traveling
in Florida. The egret landed a few feet away from him and he seized
the opportunity.
He has a lot of character, Fournier said of the bird
in the photograph.
Traveling in Africa, France and Florida have presented Fournier
with ways to pursue photography, a hobby he picked up about three
years ago. At the same time, he joined the Peninsula Color Slide
Club and the Palo Alto Photo Club.
Born in San Diego, Fournier attended graduate school at U.C. Berkeley
and worked for the U.S. Geological Survey, retiring three years
ago. He now has more time to travel and practice his photography.
It is rare these days to see him without a camera.
I cant go anywhere without carrying a camera and a
tripod, he said.
