The Kristine Fitzhugh Case

Last Updated: Wednesday, July 11, 2001, 2:45 p.m.

Biological father takes stand
Robert Brown recounts affair with Kristine Fitzhugh

Palo Alto murder victim Kristine Fitzhugh's former lover is testifying in her husband Kenneth Fitzhugh's murder trial this afternoon that he had a longtime affair with Kristine that produced their son, Justin.

Robert Brown told jurors this afternoon that Kristine told him in a telephone call in December 1999 or January 2000 that she would like him to go to Justin's graduation and that she planned to tell Justin about his biological father at that time.

Brown also testified that when Kristine was pregnant, she told him she hadn't had sex with anyone else for the four months before the baby was conceived.

Kristine Fitzhugh's husband Kenneth is standing trial for the murder of his wife in May 2000. Police say they have evidence that Kenneth beat and strangled his wife in the kitchen of their Southgate home. A medical examiner testified that Kristine's body, which was found in the basement, was put there after she was killed to make it look like she had fallen.
