Patrick Swayze reportedly treated at Stanford for cancer

Bookmark and Share
Actor Patrick Swayze, star of the movies "Ghost" and "Dirty Dancing," is being treated on an outpatient basis at Stanford Hospital for pancreatic cancer, several news outlets reported today.

News reports say that Swayze, 55, a licensed pilot, has been flying his private Beechcraft airplane to Palo Alto for treatment.

Swayze's doctor confirmed that the actor is being treated for cancer but didn't indicate where the treatments were taking place.

A Stanford Hospital spokesman could not be reached for comment.

"Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far," Dr. George Fisher, Swayze's physician, told Fox News.

Several news reports said Swayze is terminally ill, with five weeks to live. Fisher denied those characterizations.

"All the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue," he said.

Whereas I wish the best to Patrick and his family and trust that the wonderful Stanford team is doing its best. I hope that we can give the man the privacy he deserves at a time like this and that nothing but the bare facts are reported.

Anything else is not our business.
