First-team All-America status for foursome
Kehoe, Akinradewo, Barboza and Klineman are all honored by Volleyball Magazine

Share
They are already playing for the United States national women's volleyball team, so it's only appropriate that Stanford senior setter Bryn Kehoe, junior middle blocker Foluke Akinradewo, freshman outside hitter Alix Klineman and junior outside hitter Cynthia Barboza were named first team All-Americans.

The four Cardinal players, who helped Stanford reach the NCAA championship match in December, were honored by Volleyball Magazine.

Klineman was also recognized as Volleyball Magazine's National Freshman of the Year. She was the Pac-10 and Pacific Region Freshman of the Year as well. Klineman led the Cardinal with 4.21 kills per game, and led the squad with 4.26 digs per game in the NCAA Tournament.

Kehoe led the nation with 14.40 assists per game, and set career and single-season school assist records. She finished her collegiate career with 5,956 career assists, while helping the team record a program-high .316 hitting percentage. She also was named the Collegiate Volleyball Update National Setter of the Year.

Akinradewo, the AVCA National Player of the Year and Honda Award winner for volleyball, led the nation with a .499 hitting percentage, the second-best single-season performance in NCAA history. Akinradewo recorded 4.11 kills per game and 1.21 blocks per game.

Barboza's 20 double-doubles last fall were a career high. She finished the year averaging 3.99 kills and 3.25 digs per game. Barboza was also an Academic All-American, and Stanford's top server with 32 aces.

Stanford's four first-team selections led the nation. The Pac-10 had seven first-team selections and 11 selections overall.

Stanford opens the season with a No. 19 ranking in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Preseason Poll announced Wednesday.

The Cardinal (35-21-1 last year) finished 20th last year after reaching the finals of the Stanford regional, losing to LSU, 11-5.

Stanford returns 11 letter winners, including All-American center fielder Alissa Haber. The Cardinal also returns both of its pitchers in junior Missy Penna and senior Becky McCullough
