Ellen Crane

"I'm going to be thinking a little more ecologically about gifts. I'm probably doing a lot of more homemade gifts, recycling probably some old gifts and trying to not buy too much this year."

Huston Niblock

Beverly Avenue, Millbrae

Iron Worker

"I'll be going to Colorado. I'm going to visit my children and my grandchildren for two weeks, I hope."

Scott Porter

Addison Avenue, Palo Alto

Hewlett-Packard Employee

"I do have a new baby on the way, so I'll probably be spending some more time hanging out with my pregnant wife and taking care of her and making sure she's enjoying her pregnancy — that's about it!"

Randy Mooney

Webster Street, Palo Alto

Legal Secretary

"We're going to be using a lot less energy, actually. We're not going to use nearly as many lights, and the ones we have will be LED lights."

It is good to have traditions at this time of year. It is good to have the traditions from our childhood continue to be something special for our children. But, it is good to start new traditions too.

I have been making cards to give to family and friends with supplies from craft shops. I think they are really cute and have given me and my children time to do something round the kitchen table together with the time to chat and anticipate the season. This is something I hope to be able to do again in future years.
