 | The Stanford Dish, the site of Monday evening's grass fire that consumed approximately 128 acres, will remain closed through July 4 as firefighters monitor several potentially dangerous areas.
"There have been a number of hot spots over the last day or two," Fire Marshal Dan Firth said. "Yesterday we had crews out there most of the day, keeping an eye on things (and) making sure things did not flare up again."
Several wooden matches were found near the suspected origin of the fire, Palo Alto's fire department said. At this time officials do not know if the matches contributed to or were the cause of the fire. Stanford's Office of Public Safety is continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
Originally, officials had expected the Dish to be closed for about 48 hours.
