Bike Connection wins PA Little League title
Bases-loaded single in fifth is the difference in 3-2 triumph in City Tournament finals

Bookmark and Share
Bike Connection was the top seed in the Palo Alto Little League City Tournament for good reason, battling its way through the consolation bracket to claim the championship Sunday.

After suffering its first loss a week earlier, Bike Connection won four straight games, the last one a 3-2 triumph over Tickets Express in the city tourney challenge game Sunday at Middlefield Park.

Unlike on Saturday, when the teams combined for 29 runs and 31 hits, Sunday's showdown for the top prize was completely different. This time, the pitchers finally had a big say in the outcome.

After Bike Connection grabbed a 1-0 lead, Tickets Express retook the lead at 2-1 in the second inning. Bike Connection starting pitcher Jack Witte tied the game with a solo home, setting up the winning run in the fifth.

Bike Connection loaded the bases in the fifth for Kenny Jones, the winning pitcher in Saturday's game who also scored the winning run in that wild 15-14 triumph by Bike Connection to force the extra game.

Once again, Jones delivered. He ripped a single to center to score the winning run. For Bike Connection, it was the team's fifth win over Tickets Express this season.
