 | Felicia Lee came into the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships as Stanford's fastest ever in the 100 back. On Friday, Lee reset her own school record with a 51.58 for fourth place at the IU Natatorium as Stanford finished the day in seventh place with 189.5 points.
Stanford was fifth after the first day of the national meet.
The final day of the NCAA Championships will begin with the prelims Saturday morning and concludes with the evening session.
"Felicia Lee and Maya DiRado had a great day for us," Stanford coach Greg Meehan said. "Andi Murez swam well and we had another pair of top-eight relay swims. We are now in a great team race with a few schools and I'm excited to see our group respond tomorrow morning."
Tennessee (1:34.95) won the 200 medley relay with Stanford taking seventh in 1:37.17. Annemarie Thayer, Sarah Haase, Lee and Maddy Schaefer teamed to post the time to begin the evening session.
The third straight top-four finish in the 400 IM was posted by second-place DiRado (4:01.02). DiRado was third in 2011 and fourth in 2012 in the event.
Murez went 1:45.25 for an All-America citation and eighth-place finish in the 200 free.
Sarah Haase's 59.95 in the B-Final of the 100 breast was good for 14th. Haase went 59.90 in the prelims.
Lee, DiRado, Julia Anderson and Murez posted a 6:59.16 for fourth in the 800 free relay. Each of Stanford's four relays in the meet have finished in the top eight.
Also in the 800 free relay, Cal freshman Rachael Acker from Gunn High led off with a 1:45.54 for her 200 leg as the Bears finished third in 6:57.44. USC freshman Jasmine Tosky from Palo Alto High swam her team's third leg in 1:45.09 as the Trojans finished sixth.
Acker also finished ninth in the 200 free in 1:44.33.— Stanford Athletics Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.
