Just four months after finishing his collegiate career at Stanford on the All-Pac-12 First Team, Adam Jahn has made a splash in Major League Soccer -- scoring a highlight-reel equalizer then earning the penalty that led to the winner in the San Jose Earthquakes' 2-1 comeback win over the New York Red Bulls on Sunday night at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara.

In the second game of the season and his second appearance for the Earthquakes off the bench, Jahn showed the playmaking ability and his nose for the goal that led to a career-high 13 goals for the Cardinal this past fall.

Entering the match in the 66th minute, Jahn opened his professional account 17 minutes later, one-timing Sam Cronin's cross into the top of the net for the 83rd-minute equalizer.

Jahn continued his aggressive play as injury time approached and it was rewarded in the 89th minute. Though his header off a San Jose corner kick was blocked before it could reach the target, a Red Bulls' defender was called for handball, awarding the Earthquakes a spot kick that Chris Wondolowski slotted home on a second effort in the 92nd minute.

The win earned San Jose its first three points of the season.

Jahn, a three-time all-conference second-team selection and 2012 first-team pick, scored 13 goals last fall as the Cardinal went 9-8-1 in the first campaign of the Jeremy Gunn era. The El Macero (Sacramento area) native finished his collegiate career with a flourish, bagging his first collegiate hat trick in Stanford's 6-1 win at California Nov. 9.

After being selected by San Jose in the 2013 Supplemental Draft, Jahn impressed the Earthquakes brass in the preseason and earned a first-team spot. He made his MLS debut in San Jose's season-opening loss to Real Salt Lake March 3.
