East Palo Alto fire forces 19 to evacuate
|
Volunteers have set up an evacuation center in East Palo Alto for 15 adults and four children affected by a fire at a two-unit home this morning, an American Red Cross spokeswoman said.
The center has been opened at the Faith Missionary Baptist Church at 835 Runnymede St. in East Palo Alto after a morning fire.
The one-alarm blaze affected two units at a home on Buchanan Court just before 10 a.m. this morning, according to a San Mateo County fire dispatcher.
The fire was put out by 10:30 a.m., however residents at the home were not able to return immediately, Red Cross spokeswoman Cynthia Shaw said.
Four dogs were also rescued in the fire, she said.
As of 4:15 p.m., Shaw said it was not determined if the residents would need temporary housing overnight.
