An incredibly successful season came to an end on Thursday afternoon when Menlo College (26-4) fell to No. 12-seeded Jamestown, 70-54, in the first round of the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Championships in Sioux City, Iowa.

Jamestown l(27-5) ed for much of the game, in large part due to its 44.6 percent shooting effort from the field. Comparatively, Menlo (26-4) was only able to convert on 34.8 percent of its shots, including just 29 percent in the second half.

The Jimmies led 37-29 at the end of the first half and continued
to have their way with the Oaks in the second half, extending the lead by as much as 18 points with just minutes remaining in the game.

Lauren Adamek led the way for Menlo with a game-high 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting. Laurel Donnenwirth nearly notched her 11th double-double of the season with eight points and 11 rebounds. Sareen Ohanian chipped in eight points and a pair of assists for the Oaks.

The loss snaps Menlo's 14-game winning streak and brings one of the most successful seasons in school history to a close. The Oaks made their second consecutive trip to the national tournament and collected Cal Pac regular-season and tournament honors.

Menlo also took home "Player of the Year," "Coach of the Year," and "Defender of the Year" honors for the efforts of Jolise Limcaco, head coach Shannon Osborne, and Donnenwirth. With the first- round loss, Adamek, Ohanian, Carly Tristao, and Jenna Marinaro end their successful careers at Menlo.

Jamestown advances to the second round of the tournament for the second-straight year and the third time in school history. They will face top-seeded Eastern Oregon on Friday.
