Music: Kaila Flexer
Folk violinist Kaila Flexer and her quartet will perform Balkan and Sephardic music with the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra at a free concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 9. The performance is at the Cubberley Community Center, 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. The program also includes music by Mendelssohn and Dohnanyi. Go to pacomusic.org.

Art: Kristen Olson
A reception is set for 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 9, for a new oil-landscape exhibition by Kristen Olson at the Portola Art Gallery, 75 Arbor Road, Menlo Park. Her show is up through March 31, with a plein-air painting workshop planned for March 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Exhibit hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Go to portolaartgallery.com.

Film: Israeli Movie Club
A screening of the 2010 Eitan Tzur film "Naomi," about an obsessive man and his younger wife, is planned for 8 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto. The film is in Hebrew with English subtitles; coffee and cookies are planned for before, with a discussion in English after. Admission is $13 general and $10 for members in advance, and $18 at the door. Go to paloaltojcc.org.
