Film: 'Chasing Ice'
A free screening of the 2012 climate-change documentary "Chasing Ice," directed by Stanford graduate Jeff Orlowski, is planned for 7 p.m. tonight, March 4, followed by a panel discussion with Orlowski and professors Noah Diffenbaugh, Terry Root and Michael Wara about the environmental issues raised in the film. The event will be in Cemex Auditorium at Stanford's Graduate School of Business. Go to events.stanford.edu.
Art: Pacific Art League
Forty-one paintings by 37 artists are on display in a new show at Palo Alto's Pacific Art League, which has temporary gallery space at 227 Forest Ave. while its nearby home is being renovated. The juried exhibition includes abstracts, landscapes and portraits, with media including watercolor, acrylic, tempera and gouache diluted with Coke. The show is free and up through March 28, open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 to 4. Go to pacificartleague.org.
