Josh Huestis recorded another double-double with 11 rebounds and 12 points. Dwight Powell scored 16 points on 6 of 9 shooting. Chasson Randle added 12 points.

That's pretty much your Stanford men's basketball highlights for Saturday as the Cardinal dropped a 77-66 decision to host Oregon in a Pac-12 Conference contest that all but eliminated the struggling team from reaching the NCAA tournament.

Stanford (7-8, 16-12) still needs another win or two just to assure itself of a winning record and a possible consolation invitation to the postseason.

The Cardinal, which has lost three of its last four games, return home to take on Colorado for an 8 p.m. tipoff Wednesday and then hosts Utah at 2 p.m. Sunday before finishing the season at California.

In case you were wondering might might have been for Stanford, just take a look at where the Bears are sitting these days. Once upon a time the Cardinal and Cal were both part of a five-team tie for fifth place.

They've gone in different directions ever since and it's not a pretty sight for Stanford fans. The Bears are sitting a game out of first place. Stanford are four games out of the lead, scrapping to stay in eighth place.

Things could have been much different for Stanford. There's nothing left to do though. There's only the next game and there's the Pac-12 tournament.

Hope springs eternal as long as there is basketball to be played. Stanford just continues to make things difficult for itself.

Within four points at halftime, the Ducks used a 23-6 run to grab a 21-point advantage and then went into cruise control.

Huestis hit a 3-pointer with 15:47 remaining to play in the game, drawing the Cardinal to within 37-33. As it turned out, that was the closest Stanford would get.
