Nationally No. 7 Stanford will travel across the Bay for a Pac-12 Conference men's swimming and diving dual meet against No. 2 Cal on Saturday. The swim competition at the Spieker Aquatics Center will begin at 1 p.m., with 1-meter diving starting at noon.

Stanford (4-1 overall, 2-1 Pac-12) faced the Golden Bears in a friendly triple-distance meet earlier this season on Nov. 7. The Golden Bears are 6-0 on the season with a 3-0 mark against conference opponents.

"Cal is a great team, and this meet's format will be a bit different as we'll be swimming shorter and fewer events," Stanford head coach Ted Knapp said. "This will give us a great chance to sharpen up and find a little bit more speed in some races to evaluate where we stand.

"This will be nobody's last meet. There will be faster swimming to come after this. But when you get a chance to race Cal, you can expect some fast swimming."

The meet will feature some of this season's fastest Pac-12 performers in the 50 free, including Stanford's Andrew Saeta (19.91) and Aaron Wayne (19.91) along with Cal's Tyler Messerschmidt (19.57), Shayne Fleming (19.78) and Fabio Gimondi (19.86).

Wayne ranks third in the league in both the 100 (42.96) and 200 free (1:35.31).

Danny Thompson's 9:07.19 is the Pac-12's fastest this season in the 1,000 free as he ranks second in the 1,650 (15:02.18). Drew Cosgarea (15:07.62) is third in the 1,650 free for the Cardinal.

Matt Thompson (3:46.78) and Bryan Offutt (3:48.46) are second and third, respectively, in the 400 individual medley for Stanford.

In its last outing, Stanford gave No. 3 USC as much as it could handle in a 156-139 defeat to the Trojans. It was the final meet at Avery Aquatic Center for the Cardinal seniors.

Following Saturday's meet at Cal, Stanford will resume training for the Pac-12 Conference Championships (March 3-6) and NCAA Championships (March 28-30).

Women's basketball
Junior forward Chiney Ogwumike was one of five players named to the 2012-13 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Women's Basketball Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.

Ogwumike, owner of a 3.41 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in international relations, was joined on the Academic All-America Team by Elena Delle Donne (Delaware), Brandi Brown (Youngstown State), Jacqui Kalin (Northern Iowa) and Marissa Kastanek (N.C. State). It is Ogwumike's first selection to the team, and the second year in which she has earned All-District 8 recognition.

Women's soccer
Stanford soccer recruit Jane Campbell has been called into the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team for the 12 Nations Tournament.

Campbell, a goalkeeper from Kennesaw, Ga., was one of eight players to sign letters of intent earlier this month to attend Stanford next fall. She will be joining the U.S. U-20's in La Manga, Spain. The friendly tournament goes from March 1-12.

The U.S. will play three matches -- on March 7 against Norway, March 9 against Germany, and March 11 against Sweden.

Campbell is one of 18 players called into the team. Most participated in the team's first training camp, earlier this month at the Home Depot Center in Carson. Campbell, however, was called into camp with the full national team. Campbell, who turned 18 on Feb. 17, is believed to be the youngest goalkeeper ever called to the full U.S. team.

The ultimate goal for the U-20s is the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada. Campbell is the reigning NSCAA Youth Girls Player of the Year and a two-time NSCAA Youth All-American.
