Preseason All-Americans Brian Ragira, Austin Wilson and Mark Appel have been named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch List, as announced Thursday by USA Baseball. Sponsored by Major League Baseball, the award goes to the top amateur baseball player in the country.

Stanford and LSU led all schools with three players named to the Watch List, which features 50 of the nation's top amateur players. The Golden Spikes Award trophy will be awarded live July 19 on MLB Network. July 19.

Appel, the 2012 NCBWA Pitcher of the Year, was a finalist for last year's Golden Spikes Award. The senior righty will take the mound in front his hometown crowd when Stanford opens the season at Rice on Friday.

Wilson, a junior left fielder, was an All-Pac-12 honorable mention last season after hitting .285 with a .492 slugging pct.

Also an All-Pac-12 honorable mention as a sophomore, Ragira held things down at first base for the Cardinal in 2012 while hitting a team-best .329.

Wrestling
Stanford 6-15) wraps up the dual-match portion of its schedule on Saturday, playing host to 12th-ranked Central Michigan (13-3) on Senior Day and Father-Son Day.

The Cardinal's lone senior, Timmy Boone, will be recognized prior to the dual. Central Michigan head coach Tom Borrelli is the father of Stanford head coach Jason Borrelli.

Central Michigan comes to The Farm having won its past six duals, including a 17-16 upset of No. 6 Missouri. Central Michigan has four ranked wrestlers on its roster.

Stanford is led by juniors Bret Baumbach (165 pounds) and Dan Scherer (heavyweight) plus redshirt freshman Evan Silver (125 pounds). They have combined for 63 wins this season. Silver leads the way with 24, which ties him for the seventh-most wins by a rookie in school history (Zach Zimmerer, 1996-97).

Stanford will have two weeks to prepare for the Pac-12 Championships, held this year at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Ariz., on March 2.
