Mixed bag of results for ex-Stanford athletes

| Former Stanford tennis standout Scott Lipsky teamed with Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico to post a first-round victory in the main draw of doubles at the SAP Open on Monday night at HP Pavilion in San Jose.
Lipsky and Gonzalez advanced with a 6-3, 6-4 win over James Cerretani of the U.S. and Adil Shamasdin of Canada.
In doubles action Tuesday night, former Stanford All-Americans Mike and Bob Bryan will play their opening match starting at 7 p.m.
In first-round singles action Monday, former Stanford standout Bradley Klahn made his pro debut at the tournament and dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision to Jessee Levine of Canada.
In the National Basketball Association, former Cardinal standout Brook Lopez poured in 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help the Broooklyn Nets defeat the host Indiana Pacers in overtime, 89-84.
Elsewhere, Robin Lopez tossed in 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the New Orleans Hornets downed the host Detroit Pistons, 105-86. Lopez has double-doubles in a career-best eight straight games. He shot 64.3 percent from the field in the first seven games of the streak and continued the hot hand by going 9 of 13 from the field on Monday.
In the National Football League, former Stanford defensive back Michael Thomas was signed to a reserve/future contract by the San Francisco 49ers.
