Repairs to impact traffic on Embarcadero
City of Palo Alto to repair storm catch basin

Bookmark and Share
Traffic is expected to slow down on Embarcadero Road and Bryant Street in Palo Alto this week while the city repairs a storm catch basin at the busy intersection.

Work on the catch basin was scheduled to begin Monday morning, Feb. 11, and to stretch until 4 p.m. It will require the city to close one westbound lane of Embarcadero Road during these hours, according to the Public Works Department.

The city expects to complete the project on Thursday, Feb. 14. However, a deck plate will be in place on the road for a week after this date to allow the new concrete to cure, the department announced.

Anyone with questions about this project can reach Public Works at 650-496-6974 or at pwps@cityofpaloalto.org.

Why can't projects like these be announced in advance so that we can plan alternate routes, or make plans in advance?

Why can't the Weekly have a section each week of upcoming road construction for the following week?

Why can't this information be tweeted or put on facebook to let those of us impacted know ahead of time? PAPD does this on fb and it has given me warning of when to avoid things like traffic delays because of Stanford Games which I would otherwise be unaware of.

Thank you

What went wrong with the catch basin? How long has it been inoperable? If it was discovered earlier, why wait for the rainy season to repair it?
