Lin scores 28 as Rockets shoot down Warriors

Bookmark and Share
Palo Alto High grad Jeremy Lin made a career-high five 3-pointers as the Houston Rockets tied an NBA record and set a franchise mark with 23 treys in a 140-109 win over the visiting Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night.

Lin scored 28 points and dished out nine assists in the wild victory. Chandler Parsons and James Harden hit four treys apiece as the Rockets reached a season-high point total.

"Sometimes that's the way it goes," said Lin. "Thankfully we were able to get a bunch of open looks and knock them down tonight and that's just the way it is sometimes. We are comfortable playing at home."

Houston (27-23) also tied an NBA record with 14 three-pointers in the first half and dished out a season-high 35 assists on 46 field goals overall.

The Rockets were 18 of 27 from 3-point range through three quarters. They finally hit a dry spell early in the fourth, missing their first three 3-point attempts before heating up again to finish 23 of 40 (.575 percent).

Lin finished 10 of 16 from the field, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range. The 28 points marked his eighth 20-plus point performance of 2012-13.

"I've been feeling a lot better," Lin said about his recent three-point shooting. "I got off to a really slow start and it was frustrating because I'd been working on it all summer. But, hopefully I'll be able to turn the corner and shoot the way that I'm capable of shooting it."

The Rockets also took care of the ball, turning it over just nine times. Lin had just two.

"We were just trying to attack and just take what the defense gave us and I think tonight we did a really good job of being unselfish," he said. "We played the way we are capable of playing and I feel like we did that for most of the game."

In other NBA action Tuesday, former Stanford standout Brook Lopez poured in 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a 92-83 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
