Stanford junior basketball forward Josh Huestis earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors after leading the Cardinal to an important sweep of the Oregon schools last week.

The honor is the first for a Stanford player since Landry Fields earned the conference's weekly recognition back on Feb. 22, 2010.

Huestis led Stanford to its first home sweep during Pac-12 play. The Cardinal beat No. 10 Oregon, 76-52, on Jan. 30, knocking off its first Top 10 opponent in five years. Four days later, Stanford defeated Oregon State, 81-73, to improve to 5-4 in league action.

"That's a great honor for him," Stanford guard Chasson Randle said. "It's kind of cool and a huge stepping stone. He worked so hard during the offseason and even in practice now he's so diligent. He derserves it."

Huestis averaged 15.0 points, 13.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks while shooting 68.8 percent overall and 77.8 percent from the foul line during the homestand. He now has four double-doubles on the year.

In Wednesday's win over the Ducks, Huestis tallied 14 points and 13 rebounds in 29 minutes. He was 6-9 from the field and finished with three blocks.

In Sunday's victory over the Beavers, Huestis collected 16 points and 13 boards in 33 minutes. In addition to dishing out a career-high four assists, Huestis blocked two shots and was 5-7 from the field as the Cardinal pulled away down the stretch.

"Josh is becoming the player who can book it what he gives you day in and day out," Cardinal coach Johnny Dawkins said.

With five more swats this week, Huestis moved into seventh place in school history for career blocks (96), passing Josh Childress. Next up on the charts is Brook Lopez, who stands in sixth place with 101.

Huestis is averaging 9.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game (fourth in the Pac-12) with a team-best 46 blocks while starting all 22 contests. He's bidding to become the first Stanford player to average a double-double since Curtis Borchardt (16.9 ppg, 11.4 rpg) in 2001-02.

Stanford (5-4, 14-8) plays at No. 7 Arizona (7-2, 19-2) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will be aired on ESPNews.

"Arizona is a very talented team," Dawkins said. "They have big-time senior leadership in Solomon Hill and Mark Lyons."

The Wildcats have won 5 of 6 since losing at Oregon. They are undefeated at home.

Arizona leads the Pac-12 in scoring margin (plus-13.1) and is the second leading scoring team, averaging 74.8 points a game.

Stanford ranks seventh at 70.3 and is fifth in scoring defense (64.2).
