Music: 'Love's Journey'
American standards and show tunes will be on the program when Lauren Bandman performs a concert called "Musical Journeys" at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. The event is in the Schultz Cultural Hall at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto. Bandman is the cantor at Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills. Concert tickets are $20 general and $15 for JCC members in advance, and $25 at the door. Go to paloaltojcc.org.
Environment: Talk on the Solitary Eagle Project
Palo Alto's Environmental Volunteers' EcoCenter will host a free talk by Ryan Philips, founder and executive director of the Belize Raptor Research Institute, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. The talk is at 2560 Embarcadero Road, with the lecture and slideshow focusing on such endangered birds as the Solitary Eagle. It's recommended for ages 12 and up, with reservations advised. Music: Michala Petri
As part of Music@Menlo's winter concert series, recorder player Michala Petri will perform Baroque chamber-music works with cellist Christopher Costanza, oboist Allan Vogel and harpsichordist John Gibbons. The concert is at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Center for Performing Arts at Menlo-Atherton, 555 Middlefield Road, Atherton. Tickets are $50/$45 general and $25/$20 for students.
