The Stanford wrestling team downed visiting Cal Poly, 27-9, Sunday at Burnham Pavilion, earning its first Pac-12 Conference dual win of the season.

The Cardinal (1-2, 5-12) travels to Utah Valley on Friday and Boise State next Sunday.

Redshirt freshman Evan Silver gave Stanford the early lead with a 9-1 major decision over Britain Longmire at 125 pounds. He is 13-4 in duals this season.

Cal Poly won the next two bouts to take a 6-4 advantage but senior Timmy Boone regained the lead for the Cardinal with an 8-3 decision over Dillen Rocha at 149 pounds.

The Mustangs jumped ahead 9-7 as Kyle Chene edged Stanford junior Kyle Meyer, 4-2, at 157 pounds. However, the Cardinal would win the next five bouts to run away with the victory.

Junior Bret Baumbach captured his seventh consecutive win, a season-best streak, with a 10-0 major decision over Connor King at 165 pounds.

True freshman Thomas Kimbrell earned his first dual win since Nov. 24, posting a 9-2 decision over Mitch Woods at 174 pounds.

Ryan Davies, another true freshman for the Cardinal, also picked up a win on Sunday. Davies registered a 7-4 decision over Sean Dougherty at 184 pounds.

Redshirt freshman Michael Sojka finished the dual with a 13-1 dominating major decision over J.T. Goodwin at 197 pounds.

Women's water polo
Melissa Seidemann scored three times in each of Stanford's victories Sunday at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational.

Lexie Ross scored four to lead the Cardinal past Cal State Bakersfield, 20-3, while Seidemann and Kaley Dodson each added three.

Seidemann and Dodson each scored three goals in Stanford's 14-8 win over Loyola Marymount.

The Cardinal (5-0) hosts the Stanford Invitational on Saturday and next Sunday.

Stanford opens with the Olympic Club at 8:30 a.m. and then plays San Jose State at 4 p.m.

The Olympic Club is a collection of former collegiate players, many of whom were All-Americans.

The Stanford women's sports program was presented with their second consecutive Capital One Cup at halftime of the Stanford-Colorado women's basketball game Sunday.
