Palo Alto High senior wide receiver Jayshawn Gates-Mouton will be reunited with his brother, Morris, after verbally committing to Montana State to continue his football career.

Morris, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound freshman, was a walk-on running back for the Bobcats this past season.

"I was able to watch the games last year and the fan base, Montana State has a huge fan base," Jayshawn told Colter Nuanez of Bobcat Beat. "I got to hang out with Morris and his friends a little bit too. He told me everyone would take care of me around there and that everyone was really like a family."

Jayshawn was named the Outstanding Wide Receiver in the Central Coast Section as Palo Alto finished 8-3 last fall after losing to Serra in the first round of the Open Division playoffs.

The 5-foot-9, 165-pounder hauled in 35 catches for 738 yards (21.1 yards per catch) and eight touchdowns. As a junior, he hauled in 34 catches for 518 yards and five touchdowns and had 39 tackles and two interceptions for the 10-3 Vikings.

According to Bobcat Bear, Gates-Mouton took his official visit to Bozeman last weekend. Morris served as one of his player hosts.

"Honestly, when I was coming back to Bozeman at first, I didn't think I was going to like it at all, but once I was a day into my visit, I literally fell in love with it," Gates-Mouton told Bobcat Beat. "It's beautiful out there. Everyone was nice. Everyone is like family on the football team. They told me when I first got there, if I needed it, they would get it for me. They were very welcoming."

The speedster is also standout in track and field. He has bests of 11.05 (100), 22.91 (200) and 53.78 (400) in addition to running on the Vikings' school record-setting 400 relay team that reached the state finals.

SHP senior Kendall Jager's exceptional efforts both on the field and in the classroom have been rewarded with an invitation to enter Brown University to play soccer for the Brown Bears as a member of next year's freshman class.

Jager was a First Team All-West Bay Athletic League (Foothill Division) selection both in 2011 and 2012, the latter a season where she led the Gators in both scoring and assists.

She's been a catalyst on two WBAL championship teams (2010, 2011) and been a key component to SHP's advancement to the Central Coast Section Division III semifinal contest the past three seasons.

"We couldn't be more excited for Kendall as she continues her soccer sojourn," said SHP Athletic Director Frank Rodriguez. "Brown is a perfect fit for her excellence in the classroom and on the soccer field. We look forward to her accomplishments at the next level."
