Registration closing for Palo Alto Girls Softball

Bookmark and Share
Registration for the Spring, 2013 Palo Alto Girls Softball (PAGS) program is in its last week. The program serves girls ages 5 to 16, providing wide participation and balanced, age-appropriate competition at all age levels in an active schedule from early March until late May.

The program includes instruction, clinics, practice, and lots of games, and is geared to accommodate both experienced and new players.

The youngest players begin with T-ball and grow and develop with PAGS to meet the challenges of competitive fast-pitch softball. Along the way, the league provides opportunities for both recreational participation and serious competition in a fun environment. The program is designed to meet the needs and interests of all the girls who play.

PAGS has been serving the community for more than 30 years and has players who are second and even third generation families, with former players who are now moms and active coaches and volunteers.

Information and registration are both available on the PAGS web site: www.paloaltogirlssoftball.org Questions can also be directed to the league hotline: (650) 209-0454.

Football
Former Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts has been added to the AFC roster for the Pro Bowl. Luck gained the spot as an alternate after New England's Tom Brady pulled out of the game with an undisclosed injury. Luck set NFL rookie records this season for attempts, passing yards and 300-yard games.

Elsewhere, former Menlo-Atherton High quarterback Turner Baty has left the Kansas program and returned to City College of San Francisco after not seeing action for the Jayhawks this past season.

Soccer
The IMG Academy Top 150 Rankings for girls in the 2013 graduating class is out. A few of the players already have left for college and most will be signing National Letters of Intent in just a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, there have been some significant additions to the IMG Academy Top 150, as well as to the regional rankings.

Stanford recruit Jane Campbell, the Concorde Fire and U17 Women's National Team keeper, has moved from No. 8 to No. 4 on the national list, according to TopDrawerSoccer.com.

The Stanford commit's performance at the U-17 World Cup as well as her nod as U.S. Soccer Youth Player of the Year at the recent NSCAA convention helped her climb the ranks.
