Music: Stanford Symphony Orchestra
The Stanford Symphony Orchestra will play Beethoven pieces "The Consecration of the House Overture in C Major, Op. 124"; "Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat Major 'Emperor,' Op. 73"; "Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67," today, Jan. 18, at 8 p.m. at Bing Concert Hall, Stanford. The concert is part of the Beethoven project, which celebrates Bing Concert Hall as the new home of the Stanford Symphony Orchestra and Stanford Philharmonia Orchestra. Stanford Theatre: 'Show Boat'
The Stanford Theatre will play "Show Boat," a 1936 film starring Irene Dunne, Allan Jones and Charles Winninger. In it, the naive young daughter of a show boat captain is thrust into the limelight as the company's new leading lady. It will play today, Jan. 18, at 7:30 p.m. at 221 University Ave., Palo Alto.
