Exhibition: 'City Beneath the City'
Art meets archaeology in a new show of artifacts from San Jose's first Chinese community, which burned down in 1887. The free exhibition runs through April 30 at the Stanford Archaeology Center, Building 500, 488 Escondido Mall. Designed by Rene Yung, the show is billed as exploring "the historical tensions that underlie today's Silicon Valley." Open hours are weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Fridays until 5). Theater: 'Intimate Apparel'
"Intimate Apparel," a Lynn Nottage play about an African-American woman who overcame poverty with the help of her sewing needle, opens tomorrow, Jan. 11, at the Pear Avenue Theatre in Mountain View.
