Chiney Ogwumike scored 26 points, had six rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots to help the fifth-ranked Stanford women's basketball team survive a fierce competition inside Haas Pavilion. The Cardinal beat host No. 7 California, 62-53, to remain unbeaten in Pac-12 Conference play.

Amber Orrange added 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds for Stanford (3-0, 14-1), which won its 81st consecutive conference game.

Stanford won its 10th straight on Cal's home court despite getting outrebounded by a 43-28 margin, including 20-4 on the offensive boards.

It will have to be a quick turnaround for the Cardinal, which hosts California (2-1, 12-2) on Sunday at 1 p.m.

"The way I look at it was this was just the first half because we play them again Sunday," Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer said. "Let's see if we can knock down some 3s and play better on Sunday. I think it probably will be a better game for both teams. We'll be rested."

Ogwumike gave Stanford the lead for a good with 8:09 remaining to play, hitting a short jumper to make it 48-46. That started an 8-0 run to give the Cardinal some breathing room.

California went without a field goal for nearly 11 minutes, staying within reach by going 5 of 8 from the foul line during that time.

The Golden Bears shot just over 30 percent for the game while Stanford made 26 of its 52 field goal attempts.

The Golden Bears committed six turnovers and made just 3 of its last 14 points in the final 13:08.

Stanford shifted into a zone defense with six minutes to play, daring California to shoot from the outside. The Golden Bears were unable to take advantage.

Cal led by as many as six points in the first half and took a 31-29 advantage into halftime.
