CITY COUNCIL ... The council plans to swear in council members Marc Berman, Pat Burt, Liz Kniss and Greg Schmid; elect a mayor and vice mayor for 2013; and adopt resolutions expressing appreciation to outgoing Mayor Yiaway Yeh and Councilman Sid Espinosa. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, in the Council Chambers at City Hall (250 Hamilton Ave.). View the agenda

UTILITIES ADVISORY COMMISSION ... The commission plans to discuss the cost limitation of a carbon-neutral plan for the electric portfolio; consider a three-year extension of the demand-response pilot program for commercial electric customers; and see a presentation on results of the 2012 Statewide and Palo Alto Residential Customer Satisfaction Survey. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, in the Council Conference Room at City Hall (250 Hamilton Ave.). View the agenda

PLANNING AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION ... The commission plans to discuss the scope of the city's "downtown development cap" study and review the draft of the proposed density-bonus ordinance. HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION ... The commission plans to hear an update from the Palo Alto Police Department on police staffing, community relations and the future of the Police Community Advisory Group; discuss the closure of the Buena Vista Mobile Home Park; and discuss the Human Services Needs Assessment.
