Chiney Ogwumike scored 21 points and grabbed a career high 19 rebounds as the top-ranked Stanford women's basketball team downed host No. 10 Tennessee, 73-60, in a nonconference game Saturday.

The Cardinal (11-0) won at Tennessee for just the second time ever and will now return home to meet No. 2 Connecticut in a showdown at Maples Pavilion next Saturday at 1 p.m. (ESPNU)

Stanford built a 17-point advantage in the second half and held off a charging Lady Vols' team over the final minutes.

Amber Orrange scored 14 points and had six assists for the Cardinal. Bonnie Samuelson and Toni Kokenis each added 11 points for the Cardinal. Joslyn Tinkle had 10.

Stanford won at Tennessee for the first time since an 82-65 victory on Dec. 15, 1996, improving to 2-11 there overall.

"The most important thing now is that we keep improving and stay healthy," Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer said. "We've got great leadership and great chemistry. I'm hoping that we'll be playing
better in March and April."

If Stanford wants to continue its 82-game home winning streak, it will have to be better when the Huskies come to town.

The Cardinal ended Connecticut's NCAA-record 92-game winning streak two years ago. UConn would love to return the favor.

The Lady Vols shot 31.9 percent against Stanford and missed its first 12 attempts from 3-point range.

Stanford grabbed a 33-21 halftime lead by getting a typical Ogwumike game and capitalizing on Tennessee's cold shooting.

Ogwumike, who entered the game averaging 21.9 points and 12.2 rebounds, had 13 points and 12 rebounds by halftime.

The 6-foot-3 junior finished the game with a career-high five assists to go along with her eighth consecutive double-double.

"The most important thing was that she didn't get in foul trouble," VanDerveer said. "It was disciplined basketball. She does everything for us. She's a leader. She puts the team on her back. She made her big sister Nneka proud today."

Nneka Ogwumike, the WNBA's Rookie of the Year this season, went 0-2 at Tennessee.

"One thing Nneka didn't do was get a win here at Tennessee, so I wanted to one-up her," Ogwumike said. "It was a great game."
