Stanford only fifth in the early Directors' Cup standings

 | Defending champion Stanford has some ground to make up after the completion of six NCAA Championships, as the University of North Carolina has take the lead in the Division I Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings.
UNC has scored a season-high 292.00 points while capturing the women's soccer title, finishing second in women's field hockey, fifth in men's soccer and 32nd in women's cross country.
Michigan jumps up three spots to second with 265.00 points and a fifth-place finish in women's cross country, ninth place finish in both women's field hockey and women's soccer, 17th place in men's soccer and 23rd in men's cross country.
UCLA is in third with 276.00 points after a second-place showing in men's water polo, fifth place in women's soccer, 13th place in men's cross country and 17th place in men's soccer.
Georgetown jumped up 14 places to fourth overall with a total of 253.50 points after taking second in men's soccer, 12th in women's cross country, 17th place in women's soccer and 25th in men's cross country.
Rounding out the top five is Stanford with 251.50 total points. The Cardinal finished third in both women's soccer and women's cross country, ninth in women's field hockey and 16th in men's cross country.
Stanford has won the past 18 Directors' Cup trophies.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women's and 10 men's.
