Stanford's Ertz named to All-American team

Bookmark and Share
Stanford senior tight end Zach Ertz has been named to the 2012 Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America Team, the nation's oldest All-America team now in its 123rd year.

Ertz leads all FBS tight ends with 66 receptions for 837 yards, both of which are Stanford tight end records. The 6-foot-6 senior paced the Cardinal in receiving seven games this season.

Among his six touchdown passes this season, Ertz caught two game-winners against No. 2 USC and No. 13 Oregon State. His game-tying touchdown sent Stanford to overtime in the win at No. 1 Oregon, on an evening with a career-high 11 catches.

Stanford has had five First-Team Walter Camp All-Americans the past four seasons. Ertz joins David DeCastro (2011), Toby Gerhart (2009), Andrew Luck (2011) and Jonathan Martin (2011) of late. Chris Owusu also was named to the Second Team in 2009.

The Walter Camp All-America team is selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the 124 Football Bowl Subdivision schools.
