Stanford senior wide receiver Drew Terrell recently accepted an invitation to play in the 2013 Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game. The contest will be played Jan. 11 at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium in Tucson, Ariz.

Established in 2011 as part of the post-BCS football events, last year's Casino Del Sol College All-Star Game featured six NFL draft picks. An additional 61 players from the 2012 roster entered NFL training camps in July.

Terrell currently ranks 14th nationally with 12.61 punt return yards/game. That mark also is the seventh-best single-season average in Stanford history. The Chandler, Ariz., native's 11.3 yards/return career average ranks fifth in the Cardinal annals.

In the second game of the 2012 campaign, Terrell logged the Cardinal's lone punt return for a touchdown on the season, a 76-yard jaunt against Duke. The special teams score in the win over the Blue Devils was coupled with a 19-yard touchdown reception, making Terrell the first Stanford player to log both a receiving touchdown and punt return for a touchdown in the same game since Troy Walters did so in 1997 against Washington State.

Terrell has caught 31 passes for 443 yards this season to go along with four receiving touchdowns, including one score in each of Stanford's last two games.

Along with his Cardinal teammates, the All-Pac-12 honorable mention performer now looks ahead to the 99th Rose Bowl Game presented by VIZIO on Jan. 1, 2013, in Pasadena, Calif.

Ticket requests for the Rose Bowl bout against Wisconsin can be made through the Stanford Ticket office at GoStanford.com.

Women's soccer
Six Stanford women soccer players have been named NSCAA All-Pacific Region, including three on the first team.

Senior captains Mariah Nogueira, Alina Garciamendez, and Rachel Quon each earned first-team honors. Junior goalkeeper Emily Oliver and sophomore forward Chioma Ubogagu were second-team selections, and forward Courtney Verloo was a third-team choice.

Nogueira received her third first-team honor. For Garciamendez and Quon, it was the second for each.

Nogueira, a holding midfielder, was second on the team in goals, with seven. She was a prime target on set pieces and scored six of her goals on headers. In addition, she provided clutch play. Fifteen of her 20 career goals tied the score or put Stanford ahead.

Garciamendez, a central defender, holds the Stanford record for career starts, with 102. She started every match of her collegiate career. In addition to helping Stanford hold opponents to 0.61 goals per match, she scored a career best six goals.

Quon, an outside back, was an outstanding one-one-one defender and an offensive threat. Besides her frequent overlapping runs, she sometimes was brought into a midfield or forward role when the Cardinal needed a goal. She finished with two goals and seven assists, and scored the late winner to give Stanford a 2-1 victory at UCLA in a match that decided the Pac-12 title.

Oliver had a 0.54 GAA, four shutouts, and a 15-1 record. It was her second All-Region honor.

Ubogagu had five goals and 11 assists and was second on the team in scoring behind Verloo, who had 10 goals and 11 assists for 31 points.

Also named to the first team was UCLA sophomore defender Abby Dahlkemper, the former Sacred Heart Prep standout.
