Freshman Byron Sanborn from Palo Alto High helped the Princeton men's swim team to an impressive wire-to-wire victory at the 2012 Brown Invitational that wrapped up Sunday.

Four victories during the final session helped the four-time Ivy League champion Tigers win the three-day meet with 1,008 points, while Dartmouth (772) held off Army (735) for second place in the event.

The weekend also served as the dual meets for Princeton against both Brown and Dartmouth, and the Tigers won both to get out to a 4-0 start for the season. The Tigers topped Dartmouth, 197-103, and they topped Brown, 215-84.

Sanborn was second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:00.03), second in the 100 breast (56.19), fifth in the 200 IM (1:50.78) in addition to swimming the second leg on the second-place 400 medley relay team and anchoring the 400 free relay squad to fifth with a 45.69 split.

In the women's half of the meet, Gunn grad Casey Lincoln of Yale also kept very busy over the three days. She was second in the 1,650 free (16:38.14), third in the 500 free (4:51.94) and swam on the second-place 800 free relay squad with a 1:52.06 clocking for her 200 split.

Men's basketball
Palo Alto High grad Joseph Lin came off the bench to score 11 points to help Hamilton College hold off SUNY Institute of Technology, 69-63, in nonconference action Saturday. Lin was 4-for-4 from the floor, with a pair of three-pointers, and added three assists.

"We had some great performances from Joseph Lin and Matt Hart that sparked us to victory," said Hamilton coach Adam Stockwell.
