Former President Bill Clinton visits Palo Alto

| Former President Bill Clinton stopped by LYFE Kitchen in downtown Palo Alto Wednesday afternoon for a private lunch with the restaurant's three founders and management team.
Clinton decided he wanted to eat at the eco-friendly restaurant and talk to its founders after hearing about it through a mutual company, LYFE Kitchen CEO Mike Roberts said.
During the lunch the group discussed food, plans for the restaurant's growth and the "need in America for choice," Roberts said.
"We're very honored to have him here, to talk with someone as smart as he is with so much common sense," he said. "I think he was as inspiring to us as our flatbread was to him when I told him how many calories it has."
Clinton asked Roberts why the restaurant was founded in Palo Alto.
"These people here in Palo Alto embrace a lifestyle," Roberts said. "They're risk takers, they're early adopters, they change the way people think about what's possible."
Clinton will be speaking at the Flint Center in Cupertino through Dec. 7 as part of a Celebrity Forum.— Palo Alto Online staff Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.

Posted by local foodie, a resident of the Green Acres neighborhood, on Dec 5, 2012 at 9:07 pm Why Palo Alto? Because we're tired of all the best, cheap, healthy eats being in Berkeley and not here....
Nice to see President Clinton here.

Go back to all the conservative posters who insisted that the Democrats drop Obama and draft Hillary.
Guess what?
We will.

Posted by Sylvia, a resident of the Midtown neighborhood, on Dec 6, 2012 at 10:58 am I heard Bill Clinton speak last night at Flint Center. He was very inspiring. I thought the best part was when he answered written questions from the audience. He's incredible speaking spontaneously in response to a question.
The take-away line for me (concerning not enough funds in the currently disputed budget negotiations for education and infrastructure) was: "The future doesn't have a lobby".

Posted by Impeached-But-Sadly-Not-Convicted!, a resident of Another Palo Alto neighborhood, on Dec 6, 2012 at 11:39 am William Jefferson Clinton is one of the most reprehenisble, corrupt, and just down-right evil men to have ever occupied the White House. He has sent men to their deaths--and then laughed about it (as in the case of the deaths of the Marines in Somalia).
How anyone could listen to what this reprobate has to say is beyond comprehension. And if you shook his hand--you should wash that hand with the strongest soap you can find!
It's astounding that Gen. Petraeus was put through the wringer for an "affair" that doesn't come close to what this man did.
Yuck!!!

The impeached but not convicted poster would also say Ronnie Reagan was a saint, but it was Reagan that had the most corrupt administration in history. "The presidency of Ronald Reagan... resulting in the investigation, indictment, or conviction of over 138 administration officials, the largest number for any US president"
Clinton "has sent men to their deaths"... and Reagan ran away from hundreds of Marines being murdered in their barracks.
Gt over it, fringies. Clinton was a GREAT president - 23 million new jobs and a couple balanced budgets.
Name the last republican to balance a budget.

I might have had the pleasure of bumping into Mr. Clinton, but for the public good I was hiding my face post-chemical peel.
Under those circumstances, had I been out and about, most likely the Secret Service would have thrown me to the sidewalk had I approached the Secretary of Explaining Stuff.
Serves me right.

Posted by Torgison, a resident of the College Terrace neighborhood, on Dec 6, 2012 at 12:20 pm Clinton was the best Republican president ever. Cut spending. Balanced budgets. Passed DOMA. Set wall street free.
Bush was worst repug ever.
Since then, America wants a Democrat.

Actually, it was the lame duck Bush 41 who sent the Marines into Somalia. Clinton wisely pulled them out of what was becoming a quagmire.

The two are not mutually exclusive, and the former president has a serious cholesterol problem. After his second quadruple by-pass, he was advised to become a vegetarian because a third quadruple by-pass was not an option...he could spare no more veins to replace coronary arteries again.
He was here for a speaking engagement at De Anza, he is a talented speaker and rhetorician, and that is his livelihood since exiting politics. If Hillary becomes president, and I hope she does, will he be the First Gentleman? Maybe not...they have lived thousands of miles apart for years.
