Rowing fundraiser on Sunday in Menlo Park
|
Norcal Crew is holding its annual erg-a-thon on Sunday in Menlo Park at Fremont Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The erg-a-thon consists of the entire Norcal team taking turns on rowing machines. The goal is to pull at least 1,000,000 meters and raise $45,000 for boats and equipment.
Norcal's mission is to provide opportunities for instruction, training, and competition in the sport of rowing to middle and high school students on the San Francisco Peninsula. Norcal provides a comprehensive training program to strengthen its student-athletes' personal development.
Norcal fosters team spirit while helping athletes develop both physical and mental strength, broadening their horizons as they learn to trust and support teammates while establishing their own sense of confidence and commitment.
While most of the local high schools don't offer rowing as a school sport, Norcal Crew provides an opportunity for students to participate in the sport.
Information about Norcal Crew can be found at http://norcalcrew.org/ and information about the erg-a-thon can be found at https://www.piggybackr.com/norcal/erg-a-thon.— Palo Alto Online Sports Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.
