Two shootings in East Palo Alto Wednesday
One man shot in leg near East Palo Alto Public Library

A 26-year-old man was injured and a house was struck by gunfire during East Palo Alto's second shooting Wednesday night, according to police.

Police were alerted to the shooting by a 911 call, as well as the city's ShotSpotter system that indicated multiple gunshots fired at 8:56 p.m. in the 2500 block of Farrington Way, less than a block from the East Palo Alto Public Library.

Upon arrival at the scene of the shooting, police located a 26-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his left leg.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition, police said.

Police said a house had also been struck by gunfire.

The shooting was reported less than a mile from a shooting that occurred earlier Wednesday night in East Palo Alto, which injured a Daly City man in a residential neighborhood.

Officers received a report of the shooting in the 1700 block of Tulane Avenue at about 5 p.m. Upon arrival at the scene, police located evidence that a shooting had occurred, but did not find any victims or suspects in the vicinity.

A local hospital notified police of a 28-year-old Daly City man who had walked into the hospital seeking treatment for gunshot wounds at about the same time.

Police made contact with the victim, who received treatment for two apparent gunshot wounds to his lower body. The victim is listed in stable condition, police said.

East Palo Alto police are working to identify suspects in the incidents.

Anyone with information regarding either shooting is asked to contact East Palo Alto police at 650-321-1112. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can email epa@tipnow.org, text or leave a voicemail at 650-409-6792.

No mention of the Shot-Spotter system being involved in alerting the police to these shootings. What gives?

What're the police doing about all of these shootings??? There was a scary spate of gunfire last night, it sounded like it was from an automatic, multiple shots. The is The Taliban & the Ville duking it out. Fine, let them all kill each other, but put them on a deserted island first. I'm wondering how much egg is on the face of the police after their big Taliban raid a few years ago & now...they're baaaaack. Maybe that's why they're not being forthcoming about what's gong on, or is their silence part of some overall strategy? C'mon Chief Davis - inform the public.

Rick - I don't think that's what this recent series of shootings is about. From what I've read & heard, it's African American gang violence.

All those bullets sound the same. I'll be more discriminating and go a few years further back: Web Link

Do we need to pass around a collection plate to fund another sweep?

Yeah, if they wiped the Taliban out, why are they a problem again? I think our chief has been to concerned about his own career & not concerned enough about crime. I'm not putting ANYTHING in the collection plate - it's enough to deal w/our jerkoff neighbors & hideous landlord. I'm tired of the same old same old w/the police patter.
