Senior inside linebacker Shayne Skov was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, after he led Stanford to victory Saturday night over then-No. 1 Oregon, 17-14, in overtime.

Skov recorded a team-high 10 tackles (seven solo) including a solo tackle for loss to spearhead an epic Stanford defensive performance against the nation's top offense.

Oregon was the FBS leader with 54.80 points per game and had registered an NCAA-record 23 straight games of 30-plus points, including 13 in a row scoring 42-plus points.

Skov stopped Oregon on a pivotal fourth-and-2 at Stanford's seven-yard line in the first quarter, making a solo stop of Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota at the line of scrimmage and setting the tone for the evening

Skov and Stanford held Oregon to 14 points, shutting down both of the Ducks' fourth-down attempts and limiting just four of 17 third-down conversions.

Clemson's Tajh Boyd has been selected the National Offensive Player of the Week. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Previously this season senior running back Stepfan Taylor earned Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week honors following Stanford's win over USC. Last year, quarterback Andrew Luck was named the Walter Camp Player of the Year, and he joined offensive linemen David DeCastro and Jonathan Martin as Walter Camp All-Americans.

Stanford on Sunday rose to No. 11 in the newest AP Top 25 and USA TODAY Coaches Polls and will close the regular season at UCLA on Saturday, Nov. 24. Kickoff is 3:30 p.m. PT with a national broadcast on FOX.

The Cardinal is ranked eighth in the latest BCS standings.

Wrestling
Stanford dropped a 26-6 decision to 16th-ranked Michigan on Sunday in a nonconference match at Burnham Pavilion.

The Cardinal (3-2) travels to Columbia, Mo., to face South Dakota State and Missouri on Saturday.

True freshman Peter Russo knocked off 19th-ranked Rossi Bruno, 9-4 in overtime, at 133 pounds in the final bout of the afternoon. The rookie registered two takedowns in the first period to take a 4-1 lead. After no scoring occurred in the second, Bruno scored a reversal in the third and forced overtime with 1:13 of riding time. In the extra period, Russo secured a takedown and then tallied three near fall points for the win.
