Former Stanford tennis All-American Mike Bryan has served it up all over the world during his highly successful career, which included winning a gold medal (with his twin brother Bob) at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Bryan was in town last week and produced another winner by handing over a check for $21,000 to the East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring program (EPATT) during a ceremony at Cesar Chavez Academy.

The check came from Esurance's "Game Changer" program, a summer-long campaign in which the public voted for two charities to receive a grant from USTA Serves.

East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring has helped 1,500 at-risk students over the past 25 years. It combines academic tutoring and tennis instruction.

Bryan, who along with his brother make up the world's No. 1 doubles team, was on hand along with his former Stanford coach, Dick Gould. The two provided some tennis instruction on a makeshift indoor court after rain forced the ceremony to be moved. They joined with Esurance Brand Partnerships Senior Manager Chris Lee to present the check to EPATT Education Director Kesha Weekes and a handful of students from EPATT.

USTA Serves is a charitable foundation of the United States Tennis Association. Its mission is to enhance the lives of at-risk children and individuals with disabilities through the integration of tennis, education, and health. The foundation has thus far awarded more than $15 million in grants and scholarships.
