A 23-year-old man was injured by a gunshot in a drive-by shooting in East Palo Alto just before midnight Friday, Nov. 9.

East Palo Alto police reported that they were dispatched to the 1100 block of Alberni Street where they found the East Palo Alto resident suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. He was transported to the hospital and reported in stable condition, they said in a news release.

According to the police, the victim was sitting in a parked car with some friends when a black or dark-colored car drove by and shots were fired from the vehicle.

I heard the gun shots, but not a single siren.

If the victim's injuries were not life-threatening, the ambulance would not have used its sirens or driven at speed. The police often do not use their sirens, but drive with the lights flashing only, ostensibly not to give warning to the perps. This according to my nephew, the EMT.
