UPDATE: Manhunt ends, suspect arrested Suspect crashes stolen car into police vehicle near Facebook

Bookmark and Share
Menlo Park police have ended a manhunt with the arrest of a man who allegedly crashed a stolen car he was driving into a police car and then fled on foot near the Facebook campus this afternoon.

Valentin Jimenez, 29, of East Palo Alto was located hiding in a garage in the 1300 block of Madera Avenue, police announced. He was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, felony hit and run, and resisting/obstructing a police officer.

During the search for Jimenez, police officers set up a perimeter around Carlton and Hamilton avenues, Ivy Drive and Willow Road.

Aiding the search: East Bay Regional Park's helicopter, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office and Palo Alto police.

An anonymous Facebook employee wryly suggested as the manhunt was under way that if spotted on campus, a man in black would likely be suspected of being an Apple software engineer carrying out a covert operation.

Residents were asked to stay indoors during the search.

The Menlo Park Police Department asks that anyone with information, or who witnessed the incident to contact the main police line at 330-6300 or the anonymous tip line at 330-6395.
